What types of transportation do you use during an average week, and how has this shaped your view of transportation policy?
Per se, I require limited transportation but typically use my personal car.
What are some transportation challenges in Illinois?
Infrastructure: roads, railways, airfields, and waterways
How do you view Congress’s role in setting priorities for public transit, passenger rail, and strengthening accessibility in transportation?
Congress can manage effective availabiity for all Americans no matter what the location is and make costs affordable to all.
What’s your position on the Federal government and Illinois’ current transportation infrastructure spending, and if you could change anything, what would it be?
Illinois is in need for both new transportation infrastructure and updating existing old transportation infrastructure. It is obvious our two (2) U.S. Senators, both Democrats, have failed to deliver results. As a U.S. Senator, I am prepared to work w/the Executive branch and Legislative branch of goverment to achieve those needed dollars allocated to transportation infrastructure.
What is your position on investing to expand passenger rail service in Illinois, including the development of high-speed rail?
No doubt, expansion of rail service is needed and I would support such to its fullest extent. And, I'd support the development of high-speed rail in Illinois to service the most demanding areas.
Federal funding for Illinois transportation projects – such as the Red Line Extension and Red-Purple Modernization projects – has come under threat from the Trump administration. How do you plan to shore up funding for critical infrastructure projects under a hostile federal climate?
First, I find this question bias because it defines the Trump adminstration as a 'hostile federal climate'. That said, effective government must be responsible for its spending. There has been documented waste and this is not acceptable. Projects and spending must be reviewed to allocate monies were there is a demand that will serve all Americans best.
Our streets have become increasingly militarized in the past several months as the Trump administration has ramped up DHS and ICE activity in our cities. This past summer, Congress voted to increase the ICE budget larger than most of the world's militaries.
What is your position on ICE and related immigration enforcement?
ICE, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is a federal law enforcement agency which is responsible for enforcing federal laws managing border control, customs, trade, and immigration to safeguard national security and public safety. Its duties include fighting transnational crime which encompasses drugs, human trafficking, and violent crimes.
I clearly understand its mission and necessity of ICE and will support that mission and need as should any law-abiding American citizen. And, it’s reasonable to expect ICE to uphold its position lawfully.
Mainstream media is often misleading. It tends to be left-leaning; thus many are misinformed. Vladimir Lenin, who found the first Communistic state, believed in state control over academia and the media. He used both as tools for propaganda and political indoctrination. So, this is a major concern. It is obvious many of these protests are funded and organized from interests that are anti-American.
Bottom line is illegal means unlawful.
